I recently received an email from a knitter who was having trouble
with her purl yarn over. The holes were coming out larger than her knit
yarn over.
A Yarn Over is so simple that it is often one of those things that we
overcomplicate. There is no wrap involved in a yarn over. When I say no
wrap, I mean one that the knitter physically manipulates. The wrap
occurs automatically.
When asked to yarn over, pass your yarn to the opposite side between
the needles, from which it is hanging and work the next stitch.
For example, if you have worked a knit stitch, the yarn is in back. To
YO
bring the yarn to the front and work the next stitch as directed.
If you have just worked a purl stitch, the yarn is in the front. Bring
the yarn to the back between the two needles and work the next stitch as
directed.
If you look at your work, you will see that the yarn over has been
accomplished. |
