Once you have created your motif and saved it, you will probably want to create a legend.
The simplest way to create a legend is to use Windows Paint.
If you have used single stitch symbols or colors, enter 1 in the stitch input box on the new grid dialog. Enter the number of stitches you wish to describe for the numbers of rows. For this example, I am going to use 12.
Draw each of your stitches in each cell of the grid.
At this point, save your legend.
Click Export Tools
Click Export to Paint for Legend
MS Paint will open with your legend in place.
Now you are ready to label your stitches.
Click the Paint Text Tool
Draw a text box next to the first symbol.
See the cursor at the left of the box.
Type the meaning of the symbol.
Click outside of dotted lines to complete.
Do this for each of your symbols.
